High Achievers

Congratulations!  You’ve ascended the ranks and you’re in the big time.

Problem is, it’s a Pyrrhic victory: You’ve won the battle but you’re losing the war.  Your job is pretty much the only place where you feel like you are #winning.

Make no mistake, this doesn’t mean you are happy there.  In fact, you feel trapped and drowning in responsibility.  But, quitting and doing something else isn’t really an option, at least not right now.

So, you displace your feelings onto your family and employees.  And, they are all real sick of you constantly losing your shit.  You’ve even caught a few of them calling you expletives under their breath.  They’re not wrong.

You’re turning into your father and you hate yourself for it.

But you don’t know how to NOT act like this.  You’ve tried.  Sheer willpower got you far in your career, but for some reason, it is not fixing your attitude or improving your sanity.

Now, you’re a functioning alcoholic-workaholic.

When you imagined your future…

You imagined pretty much what you have right now: high-powered career, nice house, nice car, cool vacations, great spouse, a couple kids and the money to buy whatever you want.

The American Dream…

Sure, it looks great from the outside, but it’s not so much how it looks, it’s how it FEELS.  It doesn’t feel like much of anything, except a massive burden, a charade to maintain.

You were sold a bill of goods.  They said that if you achieved all of this, you’d feel happy and fulfilled.  But, you don’t.

You feel trapped, resentful and drowning in responsibility.

So, what’s your problem?

Why aren’t you happy, livin’ the dream?

Well, there are lots of external factors that are getting in the way: your job, other people, too much responsibility…

Your DIY solutions…

You’ve tried really hard to change and your efforts work, for a little while, then you just regress back to where you were.

Sheer willpower got you far in your career but it doesn’t seem to be improving your attitude or personal life.

Motivational speakers have had the same effect. You’ve seen some powerful talks and read a couple of good books, and they leave you feeling hopeful, BUT you just can’t get the changes to stick.

What if nothing changes?

Who knows.  What does rock bottom look like?

You’ll have a nervous breakdown?  You’ll end up in rehab? Your spouse will leave and your kids won’t speak to you again unless they need money?

Your burdens and responsibilities will completely drain your will to live?

Good news!

Turns out you don’t have to wait to hit rock bottom before you can change your trajectory.  You can ask for help NOW.

I know asking for help is something you HATE, so consider this your first intervention.  And, consider this your first insight:

The reason you don’t have the life you want isn’t because of some external reason: too much responsibility, other people in the way, your job.

The reason is that internal factors, old wounds, fears and beliefs (i.e., subconscious blocks) are currently running your life, dictating behaviors, controlling how you show up in the world and manipulating your moods.

And, they are doing so outside of conscious awareness.

We’re going to find and heal those subconscious blocks, so they stop running your life and get you reconnected with yourself, so you can feel something other than anger, resentment and overburdened.

Are you going to have to journal? Probably. Are you going to have to unpack some painful shit and talk about your feelings? Probably.

Before you say, “Fuck that,” let me ask:

Are you willing to do some stuff that’s lame, uncomfortable or painful in the service of something greater, a better life, maybe even the ACTUAL American Dream?

Wouldn’t that seem like a small price to pay?

As you might have figured out by now, I’m not a “traditional” coach or therapist, though I do have the training of a clinical psychologist and much more, including a trauma specialization and two years of training with Aaron T. Beck, the father of Cognitive Therapy.

Clients joke that I use magic on them.

They aren’t wrong. After my formal training, I studied psychological shamanism, mysticism, pagan magic, extrasensory perception (ESP), the Law of Attraction, manifesting, dream work, consciousness evolution, Jungian analysis, inner child healing, quantum physics, meditation and mindfulness.

I can help you find and heal what’s lurking in the shadows, so you can break out of your prison of responsibility, give up your mask-wearing charade, stop losing your shit and learn that freedom and joy aren’t just pipe dreams.  And, you can do this WITHOUT hitting the escape hatch on the picture-perfect life you’ve built.
