Lake Superior Agate necklace, carnelian agate, strung on gold-filled chain with gold-filled clasp, gold filled wire and a faceted amethyst bead.

This translucent stone shows colors of orange, peach, and clear with a white crystal suspended inside. The stone has tiny indentations with orange eyes from the shape of the volcanic rock's gas bubble that served as a mold to form this amazing stone.

Agates have natural divots and fissures that are seen as unique variations rather than flaws.

These agates were deposited in Minnesota by the Lake Superior Glacier during the last ice age and happen to be the official state gemstone. I start by hunting for the rough stones, then scrub them to reveal their potential, polish them into gem form in my tumbler, and finally, turn them into jewelry.
